Digital apps
Digital apps
2015 was a year of confluence. I drew my first cartoon of the 1st century, and discovered digital drawing and painting applications that I could use to color my hand drawn and scanned cartoons. I tried several and settled on "Inkscape" a vector graphics editor that is offered online at no charge. I used it for several years and ultimately added to my scanned ink drawings with mouse drawn details. Then I found "Clip Studio Paint Pro" online and bought it. At first, I found it difficult to navigate with my old scan/mouse drawing method. However, I was thrilled with the painting process. The producers said "don't try to draw in CSP with a mouse." USE A TABLET. Fortunately, I had one that I had bought second hand years ago for a tech manual project that never materialized. The Wacom Inuit 3 let me draw directly on the tablet using the Clip Studio Paint app. I use it today for all my online graphic projects. I especially like Clip Studio Paint EX, version 1 that was offered with a "TabMate" controller at a bargain price. I also have Pro Version 5 with a "TabMate" controller for projects that require that kind of power.
